CARROLL JOINS WEST HAM

WEST HAM have completed a club record swoop for Liverpool striker Andy Carroll.

The 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Upton Park, has penned a six-year-long deal with the east London side.
And West Ham also have the option to extend Carroll's contract for a further two years.
Joint-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have stumped up a club record fee for the England international, thought to be around £15m.
Previously, the largest sum West Ham had ever spent on one player was the £10.75m they paid for Matt Jarvis last summer.
It also means Liverpool have taken a £20m hit on the £35m they splashed out in order to bring Carroll from Newcastle in January 2011.
"It's fantastic for me to be here. I really enjoyed last season, and that shows in me coming back and making it permanent," Carroll told West Ham's official website.
"The fans, the lads and the club itself has been great to me, and what I wanted to do was come back here and play football.
"Since the end of the season I've had a lot of time to think, I've missed it and that's why I'm back."
Carroll also pointed to West Ham's proposed move to the 54,000 capacity Olympic Stadium as a key factor in his decision, as he took note of the club's ambition.
"Getting promoted [to the Premier League] the season before last, then finishing where we did [10th last season]- we did great, and it can only get better for us," he added.
"The way the club's being run, obviously getting the new stadium and everything like that, it's only going up."
