Jesé & Deulofeu: "We look to each other on the pitch, we're friends and it shows"

In the quiet Istanbul neighbourhood of Yesilkoy, on the shores of the Sea of Marmara, Jesé y Deulofeu are both tired. They have plenty of games and goals under their belts, but are ready to take on the world. They're friends and together they could help crown Spain as world Under-20 champions... and so much more.
Question: How long have you known each other?
Deulofeu: Since the Santarem International Tournament (Portugal) with the Under-16s. I was 15 years old and he was 16.
Q: Are you really good friends or do you just send each other Christmas cards?
D: No way! Of course we get on really well and it shows. We've played against each other, but we're still great friends.
Jesé: It's true that we're friends both on and off the pitch. We often talk, even when we aren't on international duty.
Q: Your careers have followed almost parallel paths. You're teammates in the national team, leaders in the Barça and Real second teams, and are about to take the step up to your respective first teams. Is that a coincidence?
J: We always try to be the best. Coincidentally, we've been the best players every year in our respective teams. We always give 100%.
Q: After the World Cup, the next step for both of you is to break into the first team. Is that what you expect?
J: That's always the goal. It's always been my dream to play at Real Madrid and you never lose that hope. Every academy player trains hard to play at the top, but it isn't easy.
D: I feel the same. I've spent many years at Barça, intent on reaching the first team and it could happen this year. We'll have to see what happens in the future.
